Out comes the Windshield

Today Jerry and I were working on what needed to be done with the top of the instrument panel and frame to accept the custom panel. Cessna used a solid aluminium panel covering the instruments behind the glare shield. It was hard to get at with the windshield in place.

At some time the windshield had been replaced since it was in really nice shape and the rivets had been replaced with screws. Since these screws were rusted we both determined that they needed to come out and the work on the panel would be much easier if the windshield was not there.

With a electric screwdriver and a helper, taking all the screws out was not too bad and the windshield came out without too much trouble. Most people that have come by have commented that it is amazing we got it out without breaking it.
